Approaches to Enable High Volume Production of Precision Ultrasonic Transducers

NineSigma, representing Titan Advanced Energy Solutions, seeks developments and approaches to enable production of transducer components and/or assemblies at high volume. Current transducer assemblies are hand-built. Titan seeks technologies, materials, manufacturing methods, and other expertise to enable transducer assembly at volume, thereby lowering the cost.

The goal of this Request is to identify technology approaches that can realize a very high precision device but at a higher volume and lower cost than current piezoelectric devices. Desired approaches include improvements or innovations in the piezoelectric element (or crystal), the dampening material or system, the transducer housing, and/or the manufacture and assembly of transducers. New developments are of significant interest, as are current and emerging capabilities from other industries.

The desired outcome for this RFP is to identify damped contact transducer assemblies that can meet the spec ranges listed here, but at a significantly lower cost at volume than current off-the-shelf solutions.
